ABOUT THE ROBOT COMPANY: 

Hardwired with the SpringHill mission of empowerment, The Robot Company is a brand consultancy. At its core, it is programmed to support our partners through advertising and marketing that spans campaigns, content, social, public relations, and experiences, both physical and virtual. The Robot Company is based in New York City, with requirements to be onsite twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) per the Company’s policy.

We are looking for a Director of Strategy, who will be a part of leading, defining, and executing strategic approaches for Robot. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of brand strategy and how it comes to life across advertising and marketing outputs. This individual is deeply connected to sports and culture and has a demonstrated track record of guiding original brand strategy for brands. The candidate must be an exceptional problem solver who can establish strategic foundations for multiple projects simultaneously. They will lead research, unearth actionable insights, and formulate and present strategies and creative territories that support world-class storytelling and ideation. 

REPORTS TO: VP, Strategy (Robot)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of brand architecture, positioning, and value propositions for Robot’s brands and partners
  • Identify and harness brand and cultural insights, challenges, and opportunities to create insight-driven approaches and compelling creative briefs
  • Collaborate with creative teams to develop culture-driving work
  • Champion the implementation of creative strategy with brand partners and key stakeholders
  • Identify new opportunities for great work beyond the brief/additional opportunities for the growth of assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with the VP of Strategy to align and execute Robot’s strategic vision, as needed.
  • Manage and prioritize tasks for the Strategy team members and freelancers.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of team members within the Strategy department.
  • Establish strong and influential relationships with internal members of senior leadership across disciplines and departments (Creative, Strategy, and Brand).
  • Steward of the Robot brand, helping to articulate what differentiates the consultancy both internally and externally
  • Support the VP of Strategy and other leaders on the approach to and management of new business opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working as a strategy leader in advertising, consulting, and marketing
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in supervisory roles within strategy
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and research skills
  • Ability to strategize around brands with a deep understanding of current cultural trends
  • Proven record in integrating culture into strategic project approaches
  • Proficiency in leading client presentations and meetings 
  • Obsessed with culture – whether sports, music, fashion, or gaming, you’re plugged in and passionate
